5th ASIA’S GAMING EXPO HIGHLIGHTS 1ST INT’L POKER TOURNAMENTGAMING luminaries and poker enthusiasts from all over the world are expected to gather once again in Manila for one of the world’s grandest gaming events in history.

On March 20-25, alongside this year’s 5th Asia’s Gaming and Entertainment Expo (Asia’s GEM), the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will host the first ever Chairman Efraim C. Genuino International Poker Tournament.

According to event organizers, US$1 million guaranteed prize awaits the lucky winner in the six-day poker tourney.

“Every year, we have seen a promising number of poker enthusiasts from all over the world flocking to Manila just to take part in the tournaments staged by various poker organizers,” Chairman Genuino said.

“It is high time that PAGCOR stage a competition that would attract international poker enthusiasts, as well as Filipino players who can outsmart their international counterparts,” he added.

Genuino is optimistic that winners of previous poker tournaments and aspiring poker champs will sign up for the event with its US$1 million guaranteed prize. A buy-in fee of US$2,500 and an entry fee of US$200 will be required from joining parties.

Apart from the main event, which will be held at the Manila Pavilion Hotel’s Coral Ballroom, side tournaments such as the “Last Chance Mega Satellite” and “Charity Poker Tournament” will also be conducted.

The PAGCOR chief said this upcoming event will not only draw in poker players from around the world. It is also expected to boost tourist arrivals and fuel the country’s economic activity. “With the upcoming poker tournament, we hope to once again put the Philippines at the forefront of leisure, tourism, gaming and entertainment. This is another venue to showcase the best that the Philippines has to offer to the world,” he added.
