Michael Cua is the Asian Poker Tour Manila Champion

Michael Cua is the Asian Poker Tour Manila ChampionAnother Filipino held court and retained the Asian Poker Tour Manila leg crown.  Michael Cua and his short stack were resilient enough to win him the championship over fellow Pinoy Mike Puno and the rest of 227 participants.

The road to US$ 172,000 was packed with Michael Cua forcing action with his back against the wall.  Lady luck seem to smile with every all-in he summoned.  Every climb, every double up, it was as if Cua knew something the rest of the finalist and the whole of Resorts World didn’t.

Maybe he did.  Mike Puno, chip leader for most of the way, found that out when he tried to match Cua’s aggressive approach.  Case in point would be the tournament’s final hand where Puno’s all-in with {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs} failed to draw an ally from the {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and Cua’s {10-Hearts}{9-Spades} held on to win the championship.

He gets a free ride to the Macau APT leg this November and he can definitely brag about it.

CASINO FILIPINO Poker Department headed by VP Emilia S. Padua graced the finals and the awarding ceremonies in this CASINO FILIPINO sanctioned event.
