November 25, 20011
The Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, Inc., was founded on February 21, 1973 by Sr. Valeriana Baerts, a Belgian missionary who was a volunteer nurse in the Philippines. The institution was patterned after the House with No Steps in Australia.
The institution helps PWDs become productive and self-reliant by providing them with skills training on packaging services, metal craft, woodcraft and needlecraft.Among the products of the institution are mobility aids like wheelchairs, canes and walkers. Its workers,
who are mostly PWDs, also make wooden novelty items like educational toys, kitchen wares, rugs, bags and keychains.
