Day 24 - Tahanang Vedruna (Carmelites Sisters of Charity Vedruna)
December 18, 2011
The Tahanang Vedruna, run by the Carmelites Sisters of Charity takes care of children who have emotionally and physically suffered the consequences of poverty and the dysfunctional relationship of their parents. Most of the children under the care of the institution not only lack basic needs like food, clothing and shelter, but also the love, care and attention of their family.
The Institution was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commision in 2002 and was named after ST. Joaquina de Vedruna, a Spanish nun who founded the Carmelites Sisters of Charity. Prior to the establishment of the Home, the Sisters Convent in Tagaytay, served as the shelter of the six children from dysfunctional families who were temporarily left under their care.
