As a staunch partner of the government in nation-building, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)’s support goes beyond its mandated share and contributions to national coffers. The agency also provides support to the police force and other law enforcement entities.
In the past six years (2016-2021), PAGCOR has released a total of P99.48 million financial assistance for the upgrading of facilities and improvement of equipment being used by uniformed personnel in field operations.
Among the beneficiaries of this financial aid were the Philippine National Police’s (PNP’s) support units such as the Highway Patrol Group which received P4 million for the purchase of dashboard cameras, laptop computers and other-related equipment; the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group which received P3.8 million for the purchase of vehicles for their mobility; the PNP-National Capital Region Police Office which got P3.65 million for the acquisition of motorcycles for their motor riding course; the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group which received P3.56 million for the procurement of various equipment essentials for their operations; and the PNP-Aviation Security Group which received P2.5 million for the procurement of patrol jeeps.
PAGCOR also donated P5 million to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the establishment of Cybercrime’s Cyber Fusion Operations Center for the inter-agency council’s task force against illegal online gambling. The amount was used to buy IT equipment for the center. The donation came after PAGCOR, PNP, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Immigration (BI) and DOJ’s Office of Cybercrime signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement in March 2019 to strengthen the fight against the rampant proliferation of illegal online gambling in the country.
Meanwhile, PAGCOR also donated P6.62 million to the NBI Cybercrime and Death Investigation Divisions and P2.21 million financial support to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to augment their budget for the operating expenses of AFP officers and personnel.
The state-run gaming firm also honored the bravery and patriotism of the uniformed personnel who bravely fought during Marawi siege by providing P24.22 million financial assistance to the AFP. The amount was distributed to the wounded soldiers who survived and to the families of those who were killed.
PAGCOR recognizes that a strong law enforcement is very crucial to the country. Hence, the agency fully supports their operations by providing necessary assistance that will allow them to be more highly efficient and equipped.
