After a month-long nationwide search for the most beautiful, talented, and intelligent Filipina with a heart for service, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) recently crowned 18-year old Catrine Rosary Ocampo as its first Miss Casino Filipino.

Ocampo, a 5’ 8” stunner from Quezon City, will not only be PAGCOR’s ambassadress in all its socio-civic projects but will also represent the Philippines in the Queen of the World beauty pageant in Germany this year.

The Miss Casino Filipino 2011 grand winner impressed the board of judges and the crowd with her poise and confidence during the Grand Coronation Night held last Saturday night (September 3) at the PAGCOR Grand Theatre, Airport Casino Filipino in Parañaque City.

Ocampo, who chose the promotion of education as her advocacy for the contest, bested 28 other candidates representing the Casino Filipino branches in Metro Manila as well as the provincial branches in Tagaytay, Olongapo, Angeles, Bacolod, Cebu and Davao.

Ocampo won P300,000, an in-kind donation of PAGCOR to her charity of choice, and the honor of representing the Philippines to the “Queen of the World” beauty pageant in Germany this December.

“It is a great honor to be crowned as the first Miss Casino Filipino. I am thankful that Casino Filipino gave me this opportunity. I will not only wear the crown on my head but also in my heart. It will be my pleasure to serve the community and promote my advocacy for education,” says Ocampo.

According to Ocampo, she has been part of community service in the past that reached out to underprivileged children. She witnessed how they strived to get quality education. “I am strongly determined to help them and I would not want to die knowing that I haven’t made a difference,” she noted.

As the grand winner, Ocampo received P300,000 in cash. PAGCOR will also help her chosen charitable institution through in-kind donation.

Also named runners-up to Ocampo were Glennifer Perido of Laguna (1st), Maureen Morales of Zamboanga del Norte (2nd), Katherine Dominique Lagrimas of Bicol (3rd), and Reina Cuneta of Makati City (4th).

The first runner-up received P200,000; P100,000 for the second runner-up; P75,000 for the third runner-up and; P50,000 for the fourth runner-up.

First runner-up Perido also won Best in Swimsuit and Ms. Ever Bilena. Ever Bilena was the official make-up provider of Miss Casino Filipino 2011.

Other special awardees of the pageant were Dianna Sunshine Rademann of Puerto Princesa City who won Best in Talent, Best in Long Gown and Ms. Beautiful Skin. Regine May Canlas of Angeles City was named Ms. Photogenic, while Shenna Hernandez of Leyte was named Ms. Asia’s Friendliest. Carmela Therese Ignacio, also from Angeles City, was Best in Costume.

1990 Supermodel of the Philippines Lala Flores who was among the board of judges during the coronation night said all the 29 candidates are beautiful and have the potential to become beauty queens. “I admire the screening panel because the finalists were perfectly selected,” she said.

“But to become a beauty queen, one must possess poise, confidence and must able to carry herself well while on-stage. That’s how we chose the winners,” Flores added.

Among the panel of jurors were PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Cristino Naguiat, Jr., Department of Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Queen of the World National Director Obet Ricalde, 2010 Bb. Pilipinas-World Czarina Gatbonton, model-stylist Rima Ostwani, fashion designer Fred Peralta, beauty queen April Love Jordan, and the Philippines’ premier fashion photographer Raymund Isaac.

The Miss Casino Filipino 2011 Grand Coronation night was hosted by Bianca Gonzales and Drew Arellano. The country’s King of Talk Boy Abunda was also invited as special guest, hosting the night’s Question and Answer portion.

PAGCOR’s Miss Casino Filipino 2011 will be aired on PTV 4 on September 11 (Sunday) from 9:15 P.M. onwards.
