PAGCOR on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, joined a humanitarian mission spearheaded by Hann Foundation, Inc. (HFI) to assist 500 families in Candaba, Pampanga that were severely affected by Super Typhoon Egay almost a month ago.
HFI, formerly known as WIDUS Foundation, is the charitable arm of Hann Group, one of PAGCOR’s licensees.
PAGCOR casino licensees are mandated to put up Cultural Heritage Foundations and to fund their socio-civic projects by setting aside a percentage of their gross gaming revenue.
Together with the volunteers from Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Philippine Air Force, Alpha Aviation Group, Swissotel Clark and Junior Chamber International (JCI), PAGCOR helped HFI conducted the “Sagip Kababayan” Relief Operation in Barangay Magumbali where they distributed food boxes and hygiene kits to the beneficiaries.
Barangay Magumbali was among the communities in Candaba town that were heavily inundated as a result of the typhoon’s onslaught, submerging houses and farmlands in floodwaters for days.
According to Village Chief Pedro Balingit, the recent typhoon was the most devastating natural calamity to hit their town in years, and the assistance that they continuously receive from generous groups and agencies is a great relief to local residents particularly those without a stable livelihood.
