As a way of paying tribute to the quintessential modern Filipina, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has launched the nationwide search for Miss Casino Filipino 2011.
The pageant is open to all single Filipinas aged 18-25, who possess poise, intelligence and charm. “They must also possess a heart for service so they can embody the goals of PAGCOR and help in its efforts to improve the lives of Filipinos for the better,” says PAGCOR Entertainment Assistant VP Bong Quintana.
The grand winner will receive P300,000 in cash and the chance to choose a charitable institution which will benefit from PAGCOR’s in-kind donation. Meantime, the runners-up will be getting cash prizes of P200,000 (first runner-up), P100,000 (second runner-up), P75,000 (third runner-up) and P50,000 (fourth runner-up). All winners will have the opportunity to be part of Casino Filipino shows and events.
According to Quintana, the beauty search is the first in the history of PAGCOR and will be distinct from other competitions since the pageant requires contestants to adopt and support an advocacy of their choice. “All contestants are required to submit a social cause, which PAGCOR will support, in case they win the Miss Casino Filipino title,” he said.
“PAGCOR believes in beauty with a purpose. The Miss Casino Filipino pageant is set to re-invent the meaning of beauty by making it instrumental in reaching out to the less fortunate,” Quintana added.
Contestants can choose from a wide range of advocacies including education, health, environment, poverty alleviation among other significant social concerns. “The contestant’s advocacy statement is very important in the contest. It will play a big part in choosing the winner,” noted the PAGCOR Entertainment Head.
Aside from being a gaming destination and haven for top-rate entertainment, PAGCOR engages in social responsibility projects geared towards social development and nation-building. Its most recent project is the P1-billion funding for the construction of 1,000 classrooms in various parts of the country where they are most needed. “With the Miss Casino Filipino, we can show to the public the significant undertakings of PAGCOR,” said Quintana.
Submission of entries is on July 29, 2011. Meantime, qualifying competitions for the Miss Casino Filipino 2011 will be held at the Casino Filipino branches in Davao, Cebu, Bacolod, Angeles, Olongapo, Tagaytay, Hyatt, Heritage, Pavilion, and Parañaque from August 1 to 24. Each branch will select three representatives who will compete during the Grand Pageant Night to be held at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Airport Casino Filipino in Parañaque City on September 3, 2011.
Quintana said contestants will be judged based on their talent, beauty, intelligence and personality. “The Miss Casino Filipino will embody the essence of a true Filipina. As PAGCOR’s ambassadress, she will help the Corporation promote its socio-civic mandate through her active involvement in tourism-related events and social responsibility projects.”
