PAGCOR provides medicines for BPSF launch in Benguet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) donated assorted medicines during the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) at the Benguet State University on April 21 and 22.

Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said the agency’s participation in the BPSF underscores PAGCOR’s commitment and support to the nation-building programs of the Marcos administration.

“Our medicine donation to Benguet is just one of PAGCOR’s initiatives to promote the health and well-being of Filipinos,” he said. “Under our watch, we will ensure that part of revenues from regulated gaming will give our people access to basic health programs.”

“In fact, one of our flagship programs in the pipeline is the construction of health and wellness centers in grassroots communities so that our people will no longer have to go to the town or city centers just to avail of basic health services,” the PAGCOR chief added.

The medicines donated by PAGCOR – which included pain relievers, cough syrups, antibiotics and multivitamins, among others – were received by DOH Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan.

“The medicines donated by PAGCOR will go a long way in addressing the medical needs of our kababayans here in Benguet,” Pangilinan said.

“Napakalaking tulong po ng mga ito dahil maliban sa libreng konsultasyon ng aming mga medical volunteers during the two-day Serbisyo Fair, eh namigay rin po tayo ng mga libreng gamot,” she said.

Benguet is the first province in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to be visited by the BPSF, which aims to bring government services closer to the people. The two-day activity was the 15th installment of the all-encompassing service caravan which targets to reach all of the country’s 82 provinces.

Apart from free medical services, the BPSF also provided onsite government services from agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Land Transportation Office and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
