THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) reached out to hundreds of less fortunate children under the care of charitable institutions in Tagaytay and Cavite on the 16th day of its “Bayanihan: Pamaskong Handog ng PAGCOR 2012”. The beneficiaries included poor, abused, abandoned and neglected children.
The state-owned gaming firm conducted a special Christmas party for 244 children, youth and support staff of Mother Teresa Spinelli’s Treasures Inc., Little Angels Home, Tahanang Vedruna, Saint Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation, Inc. (SABVF) and St. Mary’s House.
During the Pamaskong Handog event spearheaded by the officers and employees of PAGCOR’s Casino Filipino Tagaytay branch, hygiene products, sacks of rice and grocery supplies were given to the beneficiaries. The “PAGCOR WE CARE Committee” of Casino Filipino Tagaytay composed of 800 branch personnel also provided the beneficiaries additional grocery packs which they bought using the employees’ personal contributions.
Established three years ago, the committee has actively implemented various community projects. Casino Filipino Tagaytay Branch Human Resource Officer Bong Perez narrated that their employees regularly conduct fund-raising events and voluntarily share their personal resources to conduct outreach programs for the less privileged in Tagaytay and Cavite.
Casino Filipino Tagaytay Satellite Casino Manager Fidel Fuentes expressed gladness that they were given a chance to touch the lives of less fortunate kids this Christmas season. “Our management’s Pamaskong Handog program is a very good project and we are so glad to be here once again to make these children happy. Lahat ng empleyado ng Casino Filipino Tagaytay ay sama-sama sa pagbibigay ng kasiyahan sa mga batang ito. Through this project we can give the message that any problem in the world can be conquered by love,” Fuentes added.
Sister Yolly Primaleon, administrative head of Mother Teresa Spinelli’s Treasures Inc, thanked PAGCOR for giving the children a memorable Christmas once more. The institution has been part of PAGCOR’s Pamaskong Handog project since its launching in 2010. “Malaking pasasalamat po namin sa inyo dahil hindi kayo nagsasawang tumulong sa amin at sa iba pang institusyon na inyong tinutulungan. Malaking halaga ang patuloy ninyong pagtulong sa amin dahil malaking bagay ito sa pangangailangan ng mga bata. Maraming salamat dahil naging ka-partner kayo ng aming institusyon at naging treasure namin kayo,” Primaleon said.
Other than including the institution in PAGCOR’s annual Pamaskong Handog project, employees of Casino Filipino Tagaytay also regularly donate milk, diapers and grocery items to the wards of Mother Teresa Spinelli’s Treasures Inc.
SABVF Prefect of Discipline Carlos Guzman also expressed his gratitude for yet another help given to them by PAGCOR. “I would like to say thank you again for your support to St. Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation, Inc. This is the second time that PAGCOR included us in your Pamaskong Handog project. It is good to know that there’s an organization which is willing to extend their help to these children.”
The SABVF Inc. is a religious charitable institution which serves as a home, school, and church for young boys coming from poor families from the different areas around Region IV-A and Metro Manila.
Guzman added that PAGCOR’s gift-giving event will not only benefit the boys but their parents as well. “Sharing the Christmas spirit is something that is beautiful. This gesture will also make them realize that it is not only the priests and brothers who are helping them but the local government and corporations like PAGCOR as well. We will always be praying for you as our way of saying thank you.”
