Christmas is truly in the air at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital as it received today a P4 million financial assistance from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) during the state-owned gaming firm’s conduct of the “Pamaskong Handog ng PAGCOR 2011: 25 Days of Christmas, 25 Years of PAGCOR” Project in said hospital.
PAGCOR’s donation to the PNP General Hospital will be used for the purchase of a Multix Swing X-ray Machine, a top-of-the-line medical equipment, that will enable the PNP to provide improved health services for Police officers and personnel through the use of said modern diagnostic equipment.
PNP Chief Nicanor Bartolome expressed his gratitude to PAGCOR for remembering their institution in this season of giving. “Natutuwa po tayo dahil sa ganitong panahon, nabigyan ninyo ng kasiyahan ang ating mga pasyenteng pulis.”
The PNP Chief also thanked PAGCOR for making sure that 150 of the hospital’s patients had an early merry Christmas season through the gift packs and the entertainment they got during the Pamaskong Handog ng PAGCOR 2011 event held at the PNP General Hospital Auditorium. “Sa ngalan ng ating Pambansang Pulisya, nagpapasalamat po tayo sa PAGCOR at kay Chairman Bong Naguiat sa pagbibigay ninyo ng kasiyahan sa amin.”
According to Police Deputy Director General Arturo Cacdac, the equipment donated by PAGCOR will enable them to upgrade the health services provided by PNP for the country’s police force. “Kung gusto nating maging capable, credible at effective ang kapulisan, dapat healthy din ang mga kapulisan na nagbibigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan. Maraming salamat sa PAGCOR dahil maisasakatuparan ito. Sana ay huwag kayong magsawa sa pagtulong sa PNP.”
Top PAGCOR officials like Director Jose Tanjuatco, Assistant VP for Community Relations Henry Reyes, Assistant VP for Surveillance and Security Byron Tabangay, Assistant VP for Corporate Communications Maricar Bautista, and Casino Filipino Branch Manager Arthur Malatag attended the event and led in the distribution of gift packs to the patients and hospital support staff.
PO1 Johnny Mendoza (not his real name), an ambush survivor currently confined at the PNP General Hospital, was delighted by the early Christmas party that PAGCOR prepared for them. Due to an encounter with the rebel groups in April 2009, Mendoza had suffered an injury on his left leg, which has left him confined at the PNP General Hospital for nearly three years now. Mendoza had to complete a series of surgical operations and is set to undergo his last operation next year.
The 29-year-old policeman said he would love to spend the yuletide season with his family but his condition would not permit him. This will be the third year that Johnny will be spending Christmas at the PNP General Hospital. He thanked PAGCOR for reaching out to him and the other patients of the hospital."Nakakapagpasaya sa amin ang mga ganitong bagay lalo na ngayong Kapaskuhan. Malaking bagay po ito sa amin dahil maski paano ay nakakapawi ito ng aming kalungkutan. Maraming salamat po."
Johnny was also grateful when he learned that the hospital would be receiving a new X-ray machine from PAGCOR. "Marami pong matutulungan dito sa amin ang karagdagang gamit na gaya nito. Bukod sa PAGCOR ay nais ko din magpasalamat sa PNP General Hospital sa kanilang pag-aalaga sa mga pasyente na katulad ko.”
Meanwhile, PAGCOR Director Jose Tanjuatco reiterated during the gift-giving event PAGCOR’s role in nation building. “We embrace our role as an income-generating arm of the government. Kapag maganda ang pamamalakad ng PAGCOR, mas marami pa ang matutulungan natin.”
The gift-giving event was made livelier by the performances of the PAGCOR Voice Symphony, Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 contestant Hansen Nichols, and the Pretty Young Thing dance group.
