A modern medical center for police officers and their families will soon rise at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City after Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation (RWPCHF), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) held a groundbreaking ceremony on January 22, 2021 signifying the start of construction of the project.

RWPCHF is the charitable arm of Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc., operator of Resorts World Manila Casino. It allocated P500 million for the construction of what will be called NCRPO Medical Center.

According to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea D. Domingo, under PAGCOR’s regulatory rules, its casino licensees are required to establish a foundation for the restoration of cultural heritage. “A percentage of their gross gaming revenues are set aside for these foundations which shall be used for the protection, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage sites in the Philippines; improvement of public schools in the country; and provision of quality healthcare services,” she said.

“Our Entertainment City licensees, through their Foundations, have been contributing a lot to the country’s health sector. Apart from their COVID-19 efforts, they are also donating a hefty amount for the establishment of healthcare facilities around the Philippines,” Domingo added.

Among these health facilities are the first Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga, a medical facility in a remote town of San Andres in Quezon province and the Presidential Security Group Station Hospital in Malacañan Park, Manila.

Meanwhile, Travellers’ President and CEO Kingson U. Sian said that is very timely to construct new hospitals when health and safety are foremost on everyone’s mind. “It is only fitting that at this time, we are embarking on this project—a modern medical center, equipped for the new normal, that will expand the PNP’s capability to give its dedicated police officers and their families the care they deserve. Kailangan din nating pangalagaan ang mga nangangalaga sa bayan.”

Resorts World Manila has also previously joined hands with the PNP in refurbishing and providing new medical equipment to the Sinagtala Wing of the PNP General Hospital, to enhance the healthcare services for the men and women in service, as well as their families. Last year, as part of its community aid during this pandemic, RWM also included donations of personal protective equipment for the police personnel under the NCRPO, to help protect those on the forefront of the battle against COVID-19.
