Healthcare workers from various beneficiary hospitals join the representatives of Suncity Group, SunTrust Home Developers Inc. (SunTrust), Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation Inc. and PAGCOR during the turnover of P50 million-worth of PPEs donated by Suncity Group.

(SunTrust), Suncity’s Philippine subsidiary, together with the Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation Inc. and PAGCOR facilitated the distribution.

In support of the Philippines’ fight against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Suncity group’s Philippine subsidiary – SunTrust Home Developers Inc. (SunTrust) together with the Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation Inc. (RWPCHFI) and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), distributed P50 million worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to 40 public hospitals in Luzon.
The P50 million worth of PPEs include 50,000 pieces each of PPE suits, N95 masks, medical face masks, medical goggles, medical gloves and medical shoe covers. These PPEs were turned over to various hospitals on May 9, 2020.
According to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo, such undertaking was part of the collective efforts of integrated resorts to help Filipinos during these challenging times.
“Westside City Resorts World, Inc., a co-licensee of Travellers International Hotel Group (developer of Resorts World Manila) Inc. reached out to property developer Suncity Group to ask for donations. Fortunately, they immediately responded and they agreed to donate P50 million worth of PPEs for hospitals here in the Philippines,” she said.
Resorts World Manila Chief Operating Officer Stephen James Reilly likewise said that they have been working non-stop to also help in COVID-19 efforts of the government, and they have been looking for partners to extend relief not just in Metro Manila but also in parts of the country.
“We’re always looking at ways to raise funds to contribute either for our staff or for other programs. Through the generosity of Suncity, who has been working with RW for some time, we’re able to donate PPEs and kits to hospitals, which will go a long way in our fight against coronavirus,” Reilley expressed.
RWPCHFI and PAGCOR agreed to work together as the logistics arm that will handle the shipment, releasing and distribution of Suncity's donation to public hospitals in the Philippines.
Among the beneficiary hospitals were University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, National Kidney Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Heart Center, East Avenue Medical Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, Rizal Medical Center, Ospital ng Paranaque, Ospital ng Paranaque District II, Pasay City General Hospital, Sta. Ana Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, Veterans Medical Center, Quezon City General Hospital, PNP General Hospital, Las Pinas General Hospital and Mandaluyong City Medical Center.
Other hospitals that received PPE donations were Caloocan City Medical Center, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Justice Joe Abad Santos General Hospital, Ospital ng Tondo, Tondo Medical Center, Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Muntinlupa, Navotas City Hospital, Pasig City General Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, Victoria Luna Medical Center, San Juan Medical Center, Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, Valenzuela Medical Center, Pagamutan ng Damarinas, General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital, Rizal Provincial Hospital System- Antipolo Annex II and Rizal Province Hospital – Angono.
Ma. Christina Mercado, Admin Officer at Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital expressed her gratitude to the donors for the additional PPEs that their frontliners may use in the coming days.
“Nagko-consume kami ng 150 PPEs a day kasi hindi lang doctors ang nsgsusuot nito. Kasama din yung mga staff na nag-si-serve ng pagkain at iba pang may direct contact sa patients. Very thankful kami kasi talagang napakalaking tulong nito sa frontliners. Malaking sacrifice na ang ginagawa nila and the least we can do is to provide them PPEs,” she said.
Apart from SunTrust’s donation, PAGCOR’s other four Entertainment City licensees, – Resorts World Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila and Okada Manila, also donated food packs and medical supplies to hospitals in Luzon, through their respective foundations. They were allowed to use a portion of their foundation’s funds to help augment the government’s much-needed support to fight COVID-19. Seventy percent of the foundation’s funds are allocated for healthcare programs.
Since March 22, PAGCOR and its licensees have been going around Luzon, distributing food packs and medical supplies to frontline healthcare workers as well as to Local Government Units affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
