HER long journey from home took a 19-year-old college student closer to her dream after being recently picked as one of the three lovely ladies to represent Casino Filipino Heritage in the grand finals of the Miss Casino Filipino 2011. The pageant’s Coronation Night is scheduled on September 3, 2011 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater of Airport Casino Filipino in Parañaque City.

Ranielah Marie Oval endured a 592-kilometer trip from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan to Manila to try her luck in the prestigious beauty pageant. Said contest promises not only fame and fortune to the grand winner but also the honor of representing the Philippines in the Queen of the World beauty pageant in Germany this year.

“I’m fully aware of what’s at stake in the competition and how it can help me attain my dream to become a beauty queen kaya’t hindi ko po talaga pinalampas ang pagkakataong makasali rito,” said the former Mutya ng Palawan third runner-up. Her advocacy focuses on leading the youth to the right path through quality education. “By providing the youth with proper education, we help build a strong foundation for progress that our nation can depend on in the coming years.”

Oval also romped away with the Best in Talent and Best in Swimsuit awards.

Joining Oval as official representatives of CF Heritage in the much-awaited Miss Casino grand finals are former major beauty pageant contestants Catrine Rosary Ocampo and Glennifer Perido.

Like Oval, the five-foot-eight Ocampo puts a premium on promoting education. She has been part of various humanitarian missions in the past that reached out to less-fortunate children who cannot afford to go to school.

“It really breaks my heart whenever I encounter children who would do anything just to be able to get quality education but don’t have the means because of financial constraints or other reasons. I don’t want them to be deprived of their right to education. That is the reason why I chose the promotion of education as my advocacy for this contest,” noted Ocampo.

On the other hand, Perido - who went home with the Best in Evening Gown title - competed in the event in the hope of making it as a springboard to further propagate her campaign on the prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and promote proper care and support to people afflicted with the deadly disease.

A registered nurse by profession, 21-year old Perido explained that “with the help of government agencies like PAGCOR, I know that we can help educate more people about HIV and find ways to prevent it. There is also a need for us to explore other avenues through which we can lend proper care and support to those who are afflicted with the disease.”

The search for Miss Casino Filipino 2011 offers P300,000 in cash for the grand winner; P200,000 for the first runner-up; P100,000 for the second runner-up, P75,000 for the third runner-up and P50,000 for the fourth runner-up. Winners will have the opportunity to be part of Casino Filipino shows and events. They will also have the chance to choose a charitable institution which will benefit from PAGCOR’s in-kind donation.
